Intermittent Fasting: Take a break!

Intermittent fasting is a method where you give your body some time to digest the previous meal before eating the next dish. Our scriptures mention this kind of diet as 'healthier' and encourages us to do similar.

This method suggests that we shall have the first meal of the day after 11 AM and last  meal before 7 PM. The reason behind this is that when you eat late in night, your body doesn't get enough time to digest it, and if you sleep, it gets busy with utilising it for energy and doesn't get any rest leading to insomnia and disruptions in sleep. Keeping a fast on alternate days is also good.

When you follow such pattern, your body produces Growth hormone and insulin in great percentage. If your cells need some repairing, don't worry, it will also heal that it will also heal that in the meantime! And as you'll be eating fewer meals, it'll automatically reduce the calorie intake resulting in weight loss.

The main side effect is Hunger. A hard core binge eater may find it hard to switch his/her lifestyle to this. He/She may also feel weak and his/her brain may also not perform the same but all these are temporary. The body will slowly adapt.

If you have any medical condition, or any problem with fasting, it's recommended to consult with your doctor first.

Particularly, if you're a woman trying to conceive, pregnant or breastfeeding, underweight or have any eating disorders.
